Back when I first started using WPForms, it was a simple contact form with few other features. Don’t get me wrong—it was solid and did exactly what I needed it to go, but that was it.

Now, they’ve added a number of powerful forms that do a bit of everything—polls, surveys, payments, email signups, and more—without sacrificing ease or simplicity. (That’s been my biggest problem with other contact forms. Once they start adding features, it gets unnecessarily complex and awkward from a user perspective. Not exactly something I can recommend to clients!)

Why WPForms?

Let’s talk about why I recommend WPForms over other plugins. While it has a lot of great features and is fairly inexpensive (or free, depending on what you’re using it for) for what it does, there are some other factors weighing in on why I continue to stick with them.

Stability

I’ve recommended WPForms to my clients since I first came across them. It’s hard to imagine I’ve been using WPForms for three years already (maybe four?). In the time I’ve been with them, there hasn’t been anything that has caused me to look for another contact form. No unforeseen issues that sent me scrambling to look for a new plugin and they’re always on top of WordPress updates.

That speaks volumes because I’ve been through a lot of plugins. Sometimes it’s because I need additional features, other times it’s because they haven’t been updated in years and don’t work with current WordPress versions. WPForms has stayed on my list since I first started using them. (Full disclosure: I still haven’t had a chance to try the paid version on my own sites, but have clients that have upgraded on my recommendation and love it.)

Ease of Use

The biggest reason I recommend WPForms to anyone is ease of use. In the beginning, you might’ve had to sacrifice some functionality for simplicity. But over the past several years, they’ve added powerful features while staying true to form. There are tons of great features that cover every form you would need for your site, but it’s just as simple and easy to use as it always has been.

I’ve tested a number of other contact forms—Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, and the one Jetpack comes with—but none of them quite compare. (A lot of them also require additional plugins for added features, which is just another point of failure you have to worry about.)

Documentation & Support

While I haven’t personally had to contact WPForms for support, I did reach out to some clients to hear about their experiences. One of the top responses I got was how easy it was to get answers. (I have yet to have a client contact me back to contact WPForms support for them—they’ve always gotten quick responses from support or found their answer in this documentation.

WPForms also has a great community around it. You’ll find that a lot of WordPress users already use it, so it’s easy to get answers even in your local tech communities.

Favorite Features

Up until recently, I hadn’t even considered upgrading to their paid version because the free version already did everything I needed it to. However, there have been a few major additions recently that caught my attention—namely Conversational Forms.

Conversational Forms

Conversational Forms allow you to create simple, distraction-free surveys on your site. It presents questions one by one, much like you would present questions to someone when talking to them face-to-face (much like Typeform surveys). Click here to check out a conversational forms demo.

However, if you have much of an audience, you’ll quickly run into a wall with Typeform’s free version. It limits you to 10 questions per form and 100 responses per month. On top of that, in order to get the same functionality you can get out of WPForm’s Pro version, it would cost a whopping $700 per year, instead of the $400 per year you’ll spend on Typeform. (At the time of writing this, Typeform’s Pro plan is currently available for about $200 per year.)

You do the math! If you’re a WordPress user, WPForms offers the best possible solution (and pricing) for creating on-site surveys.

Flexible Design Options

Consistent branding and design is often a pain point when you first start out. It can be difficult to find services that allow you to use your own branding for an affordable price. It amazes me how difficult and pricey it can be just to have your own branding. As a blogger (or any business that relies heavily on digital marketing), consistent branding is a necessity. WPForms makes it easy.

Not only can you create forms right on your site, but you can also add logos and customize colors to match your theme and branding, creating a consistent experience for your audience. WPForms utilizes design elements from your theme, ensuring you don’t get weird looking contact forms that look out of place on your site. (Not having to redirect users away from your site is a huge bonus as well! I’ve personally used Typeform in the past for most of my surveys, but have never been able to justify the costs associated with the Pro+ plan, which seems to be the equivalent of WPForms’ Pro plan.

Simple Polls

WPForms also makes it easy to do quick polls for your audience, even with the free version. While it doesn’t come with some of the functionality you’ll find in conversational forms, it still does the trick. It’s perfect if you’re just creating polls for content or giveaway ideas, or just what general feedback from your audience.

Lightweight Contact Forms

Part of the issues many new bloggers and business have with WordPress is that you need a plugin for everything.

WPForms really doesn’t add much to WordPress and what it does add is lightweight and easy to customize. It doesn’t bog down your site with tons of features you’ll never use. They load quickly and easily integrate with your workflow by just forwarding emails to whatever email you have specified.

Overall, WPForms is the best contact form for WordPress on the market. Having a stable contact plugin that’s as easy to set up as it is for readers to use is one of the most important features of a website that relies on customer/reader interaction. You can’t afford for it to stop working or break in an update, and it just needs to work. WPForms does a great job of that and a lot more. Check out a full list of features available here.
